Travelers demand preservation of Yemenis’ dignity at Al-Wadiah border crossing

HADRAMOUT, Dec. 12 (YPA) – The Al-Wadiah border crossing between Yemen and Saudi Arabia witnessed stifling congestion on a daily basis, which led to increasing passengers’ suffering and created inhumane conditions.

A number of travelers complained that bottlenecks and congestion at the land port were recurring as a result of poor organization and the absence of radical solutions by the concerned authorities.

The situation worsened after Saudi Arabia’s “Dera Al-Watan” factions were empowered to manage the crossing, despite their training to supervise port movement facilitation.

Stranded families report prolonged delays of over 12 hours due to crowding from the Saudi border guard gate to Yemeni customs, highlighting their suffering.

Travelers described the inhumane condition of the land port, where children and families are forced to wait for long hours amid an acute shortage of basic services.

They called on the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition to swiftly address the port crisis by improving coordination among authorities and providing qualified staff to ensure the port’s management respects the dignity of travelers and their women.
