Abyan witnesses angry popular demonstration against Saudi-led coalition

ABYAN, Dec. 07 (YPA) – An angry demonstration took place on Saturday in Al-Mahfad District in Abyan province, which is under the control of factions loyal to the UAE, in protest against the deterioration of living conditions and security.

Participants in the demonstration organized by citizens for the second month in a row roamed the main street of the district center, chanting slogans against the systematic starvation policy against citizens in the southern provinces, without any economic reforms by the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition.

The demonstrators demanded the pro-coalition “Presidential Leadership Council” and government to address the people’s suffering due to the collapse of the riyal’s price against foreign currencies and rising food prices.

They called on the people of the other districts and other areas under the coalition’s control to pressure the government to pay salaries cut since October, confirming that popular protests would continue in the district until their demands are met.
