General Union of Teachers and Educators calls for comprehensive strike in Aden

ADEN, Dec. 03 (YPA) – The General Union of Teachers and Educators, affiliated with the Transitional Council, called on teachers to go on a comprehensive strike in all schools in the governorates under the control of the coalition, starting tomorrow, Wednesday.

In a statement issued on Monday, the union demanded that the coalition government pay three months’ salaries in one installment since they were cut off last October, and stressed the need for the government’s Ministry of Finance and commercial banks to commit to pay teachers’ salaries at the end of each month without delay.

The statement stressed the need for the government to find an exceptional and urgent wage strategy for teachers by structuring their wages in a manner that is consistent with the current living conditions.

The union warned teachers not to lift the strike until the demands are met, and it asked teachers to unite, cohese and remain steadfast, holding the government fully responsible.
