Marib Health Bureau warns of environmental disaster due to sewage overflow

MARIB, Nov. 27 (YPA) – The Health Bureau in the city of Marib, under the control of the Islah Party affiliated with Saudi-led coalition, has revealed a health and environmental disaster threatening the lives of citizens in Wadi Rumaylah.

A document released by the Bureau confirmed that a public health disaster is unfolding due to wastewater from the sewage treatment plant flowing into the residential area of Rumaylah, located near the Al-Jalal forts, to the south of the city.

The document stated that the wastewater is flowing randomly from the city’s sewage system, leading to the spread of epidemics and various diseases, including fevers, and creating a fertile environment for mosquitoes.

The Health Bureau has called for urgent intervention from the Environmental Protection Office, the Agriculture Office, the Cleanliness Fund, and the Water Authority to protect the area’s residents and save them from diseases.

Activists from Marib attributed this disaster to financial and administrative corruption in the technical office controlled by the Islah Party during the implementation of the sewage project in 2019.
