UN warns of halt to food supplies in Gaza

GAZA, Nov, 22 (YPA) – The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Territories, Muhannad Hadi, warned that food, medicine, water and fuel supplies in the Gaza Strip are at risk of almost complete cessation, threatening the lives of two million Palestinians.

Hadi said in a statement on Thursday that Israeli occupation has been preventing the entry of commercial imports for 6 weeks, noting that this was accompanied by an increase in looting targeting aid convoys inside the Strip.

“Bakeries are closing due to a shortage of flour and fuel needed to operate them,” he added, warning that Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are struggling to survive amid dire conditions and non-stop hostilities.”

On another note, Hadi said that during the current year, UN trucks were looted 75 times, including 15 since November 4, saying that two truck drivers were also shot at, and UN-run facilities were stormed 34 times during the same period.

He also pointed out that 98 trucks were looted last Saturday in a single attack in the Gaza Strip.

Previously, the United Nations had said that Israeli military restrictions and widespread chaos had led to the looting of Palestinian property.
