UAE-backed STC militia assaults government official, her son in Lahj
LAHJ, Nov. 21 (YPA) – A female government official in the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition was beaten and assaulted by a gang in Lahj province, southern Yemen.
Media sources said on Wednesday that the director of the Human Rights Office of the pro-coalition government in Lahj, Hayat Al-Rahibi, was assaulted on Tuesday by a police officer and his companions from the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), which caused her to suffer various bruises.
Al-Rahibi explained that while she was leaving her home with her son, she was surprised by the attacker cursing and slandering her, and she responded to him by saying, “You will be held accountable for your words,” and he hit her in the face and punched her in the neck and chest.
She added that when her son tried to intervene, he was beaten, and the attackers pointed their weapons at them.
Al-Rahibi stated that when she brought the medical report to the city police, they detained her son and transferred him from the remand prison to another prison.
