China accuses UN Security Council of not performing its duty towards Palestinian issue

NEW YORK, Nov. 19 (YPA) – China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Fu Jong, criticized the Security Council’s inability to effectively address the Palestinian issue and meet international community expectations.

In a speech during a Security Council session on the Middle East last night, Jung explained that the reason for this was due to one of the permanent members taking positions contrary to the aspirations of the international community, in reference to the United States.

Jong added that the United States’ continuous use of its veto power makes the UN Security Council weak and unable to make decisions.

The Chinese delegate called on all members to support the UN Security Council in order to unite and take strong action. He stressed the need to establish a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip without any preconditions.

China expressed concern over Israel’s long-standing position in the Gaza Strip, urging it to abandon its use of force and cease its violations against countries like Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
