Lebanon PM: Occupation refuses to allow rescue of civilians trapped under rubble

BEIRUT, Nov. 01 (YPA) – Member of the Lebanese parliament, Firas Hamdan, said on Thursday that the Israeli occupation refused to give permission for ambulances to enter to rescue civilians, most of whom are children and women, in Wata el Khiyam area.

Hamdan affirmed in a post on X that most civilians have been trapped under the rubble for three days without any serious efforts to rescue them, amid a major media blackout.

“I contacted the peacekeeping forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL), the Lebanese army, the International Red Cross, and the Lebanese Red Cross, and so far the answer is the same, no permission from the Israeli occupation for any opportunity to enter and evacuate them, whether they are wounded or martyrs,” he added.

The Lebanese MP called on the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government and all concerned bodies to take the fastest measures to ensure that ambulance crews reach conflict areas, in accordance with the provisions of international humanitarian law.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Thursday that 6 paramedics were killed and 4 others injured as a result of Israeli raids on the south of the country.
