GAZA, Oct. 28 (YPA) – Al Mezan Center for Human Rights in the Gaza Strip reported that the Palestinian health sector in the Strip has been subjected to systematic attacks by the Israeli occupation forces.
According to the center’s report, the occupation forces targeted health facilities through bombing, siege and storming, which led to the destruction of 162 health facilities and 132 ambulances, in addition to putting 34 hospitals and 80 health centers out of service in Gaza since Oct 7, 2023.
The report stated that 1,047 medical personnel, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, technicians and administrators since have been martyred, while 85 civil defense personnel have killed and more hundreds injured.
The center added that the occupation arrested 310 medical personnel during the war, stating that three medical personnel died under torture during investigation.
The report explained that about 12,000 wounded and 12,500 cancer patients are in dire need of treatment abroad, in addition to 3,000 other patients suffering from various diseases, and 350,000 others with chronic diseases are affected as a result of the prevention of the entry of medicines into the sector.
The center’s report confirmed that the occupation forces target homes, shelters, and displaced persons’ gatherings without prior warning, leading to mass killings and systematic destruction of civilian homes and infrastructure.
The report affirmed that the occupation is preventing humanitarian aid from entering and imposing starvation as a tool of war, targeting hospitals and exacerbating the suffering of civilians and making life difficult in displacement areas where the necessities of life, such as water, food, and health care, are lacking.
