ABYAN, Oct. 28 (YPA) – A massive protest was organized, on Monday, to protest the deterioration of the currency and the rise in prices of basic food commodities in Zunjbar city, the capital of Abyan province, for the third day in a row.
The participants expressed their dissatisfaction with the deteriorating economic conditions and the deterioration of basic services, calling for improving the economic situation and regularizing payment of employee salaries.
The protesters stressed their determination to continue the protests until actual steps are taken to address the crisis.
The Yemeni riyal continues to collapse against foreign currencies, as it recorded 2049 riyals to the dollar and 535 Saudi riyals, which led to an increase in food prices.
On Saturday, Zunjbar city traders announced the closure of their shops in protest against the collapse of the currency, which increased the suffering of citizens.
