FLORIDA, Oct. 11 (YPA) – The death toll from Hurricane Milton, which hit Florida of US, has risen to 14, according to statements by US authorities on Friday.
The hurricane caused massive damage to facilities and homes and the cancellation of thousands of flights in the state.
The authorities said that six people were killed in St. Lucie County on the state’s Atlantic coast, while the hurricane tore roofs off buildings such as a baseball stadium and caused a massive construction crane to crash into a building in St. Petersburg.
The sources explained that the hurricane flooded roads in large areas of the state, while about 3 million people were left without electricity, and the airlines in the state cancelled more than 2,250 American flights, after cancelling 1,970 flights last Wednesday.
Milton is the “worst” storm to hit the Tampa area in more than 100 years, according to the National Hurricane Center. The expected damage is between $30 billion and $50 billion, making it the costliest storm for the insurance industry since Hurricane Ian in 2022, according to a report by Fitch Ratings.
