Aden witnesses uprising of military retirees

ADEN, Oct. 10 (YPA) – Military retirees and veterans who were not included in the settlement threatened to escalate their protests against the “Presidential Leadership Council” and the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition in the city of Aden, southern Yemen.

The protesters confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the Council and the government are marginalizing their claims for the fourth week in a row without implementing Presidential Decree No. 2 of 2013, which stipulates the settlement of the pensions of forcibly expelled retirees from 1990 to 2013 in a comprehensive and complete manner without division or decrease.

The statement said, “Forcibly deported military retirees were dropped from the settlement lists intentionally or perhaps inadvertently, but is it reasonable to drop thousands of retirees by mistake?” They held the government and the presidential committee fully responsible for that.

The protesters called on the Minister of Defense in the pro-coalition government to oblige the committee to return to its headquarters and process the files of retirees in accordance with Decree No. 2 of 2013.
