Epidemics are killing citizens in Taiz

TAIZ, Oct. 06 (YPA) – The areas under the control of the Saudi-led coalition in Taiz province are suffering a real health disaster due to the spread of epidemics that have killed thousands of citizens in an alarming manner.

The health authorities in the government loyal to the coalition revealed the registration of more than 9,300 cases of epidemic diseases since the beginning of this year, indicating the worsening health crisis and the failure of the responsible authorities to provide treatment and care for patients.

The Epidemiological Surveillance Department in Taiz confirmed the registration of 9,309 cases of cholera, dengue fever, and measles in the province, including 45 deaths from the beginning of January until the end of last September.

The statistics showed the distribution of cases as follows: 5,842 cases of cholera, including 37 deaths; 2,237 cases of dengue fever without deaths; and 1,230 cases of measles, including eight deaths.

The health crisis is attributed to the collapse of the health system in those areas, the severe shortage of medicines and medical equipment, the weakness of health services, and the widespread spread of infectious diseases.

Taiz hospitals suffer from a severe shortage of qualified medical personnel, in addition to the lack of financial support from the pro-coalition government, which hinders the provision of health services to citizens, whose lives have become seriously threatened.
