ROMA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Two protest marches in support of Palestine scheduled to take place in the capital on October 5 were banned by the Rome police department, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Wednesday.
The agency said that the Jewish community in Italy and some right-wing politicians called for a ban on these marches, which coincide with the anniversary of October 7, 2023.
“We will allow all forms of free expression, including legitimate criticism, against any government, whether the Israeli government, the Palestinian government, or the Italian government, but we will not tolerate massacres, we will not allow demonstrations,” Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said in a statement on September 13, regarding the approaching the Battle Al Aqsa Storm that launched on Oct 7, 2023.
