Egyptian destroyer arrives in Somalia with military equipment

MOGADISHU, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The Somali Minister of Defense, Abdelkader Mohamed Nour, received on Monday a cargo ship belonging to the Egyptian armed forces, which carries huge quantities of military aid.

According to the photo published by the Somali Minister of Defense on his page on “X,”  the Egyptian Navy’s stealth corvette, the Gowind-class Sajm Port Said, appears while escorting and securing the arrival of the Egyptian cargo ship to the port of Mogadishu.

The Somali Defense Minister said, while receiving the ship, “We know our interests, and we will choose between our allies and our enemies.”

Last month, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi renewed his country’s rejection of any interference in the affairs of Somalia, affirming Egypt’s position in support of the unity and sovereignty of Somalia over its lands, according to Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Egyptian presidency.
