Russia condemns terrorist act of “Pager bombings” in Lebanon

MOSCOW, Sept. 18 (YPA) – Russia’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned on Wednesday the terrorist act of the bombing of Pager communications devices being used by citizens in several Lebanese areas, which led to killing 12 people, including two children, wounding a large number.

In a statement, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, called for a comprehensive investigation into the incident and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

She described the pager bombing attack as “an act of terrorism and a hybrid war against Lebanon.

“We call on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid steps that would destabilize the military and political situation in the Middle East,” Zakharova said.

Earlier in the day, Lebanese Health Minister, Dr. Firass Abiad, announced during a news conference that the death toll from the Pager bombings had risen to 12, including two children, and between 2,750 and 2,800 wounded, including 300 in critical condition.
