GAZA, Sept. 18 (YPA) – Khaled Meshaal, a senior Hamas officialsaid on Tuesday that the movement won the war and has brought the Israeli army to a state of exhaustion.
In an interview with The New York Times, said the movement will play a decisive role in the future of Gaza.
According to Meshaal, Hamas’s survival is in itself a victory, even if the movement is significantly weakened.
He stressed that Hamas is in no hurry to reach a ceasefire at any price and will not give up its basic demands for an end to the war and an Israeli withdrawal.
Meshaal affirmed that the United States recognized that Hamas was not going anywhere.
“The Israeli-American vision was not talking about the day after the war, but about the day after Hamas,” he said, referring to the initial position of Israeli occupation and the United States.
The Hamas official added that the United States is now saying: “We are waiting for Hamas’s response.” They are practically recognizing Hamas also.”
