Washington builds military facilities inside Palestinian territories

ALQUDS, Sept. 14 (YPA) – The US Department of Defense is building facilities in the southern occupied Palestinian territories to accommodate US-made refueling aircraft, according to newly released public contracting documents seen by The Intercept.

The project includes new construction and development of existing buildings, including one or more facilities, warehouses and storage facilities, at an Israeli military base in southern occupied Palestine, according to documents from the Israeli Army Corps of Engineers.

The step comes as part of a nearly $1 billion contract awarded to Boeing in 2022 to supply the Israeli entity with four KC-46A Pegasus tanker aircraft, to be delivered by the end of 2026.

The KC-46A is considered the latest aircraft that the US air force produced, replacing the two older models.

The new aircraft has suffered from a myriad of problems, including problems with the remote vision system, which allows the crane operator to see the crane via video feed. The aircraft also became a financial burden, incurring losses of more than $7 billion.
