SANAA, July 17 (YPA) – The hospital of 22 May in Sanaa on Tuesday launched a call the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Red Cross for urgent help to provide medicines and supplies for cholera treatment.
Many patients are at risk from lack of cholera medicines, the hospital said in a statement.
The statement added that the center for cholera in the hospital received on Monday (30) cases of people suffering from water diarrhea and the tests showed that there are (9) cases of cholera epidemic among the cases, in addition the hospital discovered 4 Cases during the past week.
On May 4, German medical journal, The Lancet Global Health, published a report by a group of experts warning that 13.8 million people in Yemen could be infected with cholera, with the onset of summer and rainfall in Yemen, as well as the epidemic will include (45%) of the country’s regions.
In the past two years, Yemen has been hit by the worst outbreaks of the cholera epidemic known to the world, which many experts and researchers consider as one of the many facets of the disasters due the Saudi-led coalition war and its siege on Yemen.
