OCCUIPED PALESTINE, Sept. 04 (YPA) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized Egypt again on Wednesday over the Philadelphi Route, claiming that Egypt has failed to prevent arms smuggling into the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu alleged in a press conference that militants are infiltrating from Gaza into Sinai and then moving to Yemen, Iran, and other areas.
He also claimed that there are tunnels beneath the Philadelphia Route that have been invested in building.
According to him, controlling the Philadelphia Route is crucial to achieving war objectives, pointing out that the central location of the route was key for Hamas’s armament, which led to the massacre on October 7.
Netanyahu noted that Hamas has adopted a strategy of releasing photos of captives to increase psychological pressure on Israeli society and the government.
He acknowledged understanding the pain of a mother whose child was killed but asserted that yielding to pressure would not result in retrieving any captives.
He continued by saying, “Hamas’s talk of liberating Palestine from the river to the sea means the destruction of the State of Israel.”
Netanyahu added that when Israeli forces withdrew from Gaza in 2005, the Philadelphia Route became a channel for weapons smuggled from Iran.
He claimed that Hamas believes that the way to destroy Israel is through terrorism supported by Iran.
Furthermore, he indicated that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority share the same goals concerning the destruction of Israel.
