Meteorology warns of floods due to continued heavy rains

SANAA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology and Early Warning expected on Monday the continuation of heavy rains falling on several areas of Yemen.

In its weather bulletin, the center indicated that the weather may be partly cloudy to cloudy with continued rains on parts of the provinces of Taiz, Ibb, Raymah, Dhamar, Sanaa, Amran, Mahweet, Hajjah and Saada, Dhalea and Bayda.

According to the center, the weather in the coastal areas may be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a chance of rain falling on parts of the coasts of Aden, Lahj, Hajjah, Hodeida, and Socotra Archipelago.

The winds will be very strong around the Socotra Archipelago, reaching a maximum speed of (50 knots), and moderate to very strong in speed on the Gulf of Aden and the eastern and southern coasts during the day, it added.

The center renewed its warnings to citizens in areas where rain may be expected, such as valleys, flood paths and crossing ground bridges, especially the mountainous roads.
