Algeria calls for Security Council emergency session following “Al-Tabaeen” school massacre in Gaza

NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (YPA) – Algeria called on Saturday for an open Security Council emergency session next Tuesday following a new massacre by the Zionist army at the “Al-Tabaeen” school, which shelters displaced people in the Al-Daraj neighborhood in Gaza City.

The Algerian News Agency quoted a diplomatic source in New York as saying that the request to hold this emergency meeting comes “based on the recent dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, especially after the air attack launched by the Israeli occupation army on a school in Gaza.”

The same source added that “this request was submitted in consultation with the State of Palestine,” explaining that Algeria’s request “enjoys the support of other member states of the Security Council.”

The Israeli occupation forces have continued their aggression against the Gaza Strip by land, sea, and air since October 7, 2023, resulting in the death of 39,790 citizens and the injury of 91,702 others.
