HODEIDA, Aug. 07 (YPA) – At least ten people were killed in an initial toll, and five others were missing as a result of the torrents caused by heavy rains that hit Hodeida province in western Yemen during the past hours.

This came in a press statement issued by the Governor of Hodeida, Mohammed Ayash Quhim, who stated that the torrents also caused damage to citizens’ property and the displacement of residents from more than 500 houses and cutting off roads in several valleys in the province.

The governor pointed out that the torrential rains caused the collapse of a number of homes, leading to the deaths of their residents, and more than seven cars were dragged by the torrents, in addition to the damage and siege of some homes.

He pointed out that the President of the Supreme Political Council in Sanaa, Mahdi Al-Mashat, directed the formation of a committee headed by Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Hussein Maqbouli to go to the villages and areas affected by the floods to inspect the damage and deliver relief aid to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
