SANAA, Aug. 05 (YPA) – Sanaa-based deputy foreign minister, Hussein Al-Ezzi, stressed on Monday that recovering Yemen’s public funds looted abroad would be an inevitable matter and a right of the country.
“God willing, we will work hard to recover the looted funds. Al-Azzi said in a post on X. “It is what we had agreed upon at the dialogue conference.”
He added: “Continuing to seize our public funds and hoard them in foreign banks is disgusting corruption and excessive selfishness.”
Observers believe that Al-Ezzi’s statements carried political messages that bring the issue of Yemen’s looted funds abroad back to the forefront, especially after the Security Council recently lifted sanctions and bans on the funds of former Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his son Ahmed.
