ADEN, Aug. 01 (YPA) – Head of the coalition-backed Aden government, Ahmed bin Mubarak, accused former Prime Minister Moeen Abdul-Malik of embezzling more than $240 million annually from the public treasury.
According to leaks from Bin Mubarak’s meeting with the “Tenders Committee” on Wednesday, he said that “Moeen Abdul-Malik was personally supervising the purchase of fuel for power stations, in exchange for huge financial commissions from contractors supplying fuel to power stations.”
Bin Mubarak explained that the value of the savings in fuel and transportation costs compared to the average purchase for 2023 amounted to an estimated $19 million and 800 thousand per month.
