TEHRAN, JULY 31 (YPA) – Hamas leader and political bureau Ismail Haniyeh was killed in the Iranian capital of Tehran, according to an official statement by Hamas on Wednesday.
In a statement released at dawn Wednesday, the Hamas Movement mourned its political bureau leader Ismail Haniyeh, saying he was “martyred in a treacherous Zionist airstrike on his residence in the Iranian capital, Tehran.”
Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed after the building where they were staying was struck, Hamas’s statement said, adding that Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s president Masoud Pezeshkian, on Tuesday.
