Protesters call for ban on Israeli athletes from participating in Paris Olympics

PARIS, July 21 (YPA) -In France, protesters have called for a ban on Israeli athletes from participating in the Paris Olympics.

The tournament will begin on 24 July by the men’s football competition, a day before the start of the women’s tournament on Thursday July 25.

Israel has qualified for the men’s football competition at the Paris Olympics and will compete in the group stage against Mali, Paraguay, and Japan.

In this context, FIFA has postponed its review of the Palestinian request to exclude Israel from international competitions until after the Paris Olympics.

The Palestinian Football Association (PFA) had submitted a proposal to suspend Israel in May, with FIFA ordering an urgent legal evaluation, while promising to address it at an extraordinary meeting of its council in July, Reuters has reported.
