WHO: There is no safe place in Gaza, evacuation orders hinder treatment of injured

NEW YORK, July 09 (YPA) – The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on Tuesday that there is no safe place in Gaza, indicating that recent reports about Israeli evacuation orders in Gaza City are hindering the treatment of the injured.

Ghebreyesus added in a post on the “X” website that “Al-Ahly “Baptist” Hospital and “Friends of the Patient” Hospital in Gaza City were out of service and the patients were evacuated or were referred to “Kamal Adwan” Hospital and “Indonesian” Hospital, which are suffering from a lack of fuel, beds, and medical supplies.”

He pointed out that “the Indonesian Hospital is operating at three times its capacity.”

Ghebreyesus stated that “Al-Hilu” Hospital is located within the areas where the evacuation order was issued, but it is still partially operating. “Al-Sahaba and Al-Shifa Hospitals are located close to the areas subject to the evacuation order, but they are still working until now. There are also six medical points and two health care centers within evacuation areas.”

The WHO Director-General concluded his post by calling for a “ceasefire in Gaza.”

The Israeli occupation forces are intensifying their land, air, and sea attacks on various areas in the Gaza Strip amid a large wave of displacement in the areas of eastern Gaza, while battles and clashes continue in the Al-Shuja’iya neighborhood and the city of Rafah.
