Talks on prisoners’ file in Muscat extended amid conflict between coalition delegation members

MSUCAT, July 05 (YPA) – Informed political sources revealed a heated conflict between the Saudi-led coalition delegation members negotiating the prisoner file in the Omani capital, Muscat, which led to the extension of the meetings under the auspices of the United Nations.

On Friday, former Yemeni Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi considered the extension of meetings for prisoners in Muscat for an additional period and the return of pilgrimage flights as indicators of the success of the mediation aimed at alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the Yemenis.

Al-Qirbi explained that the current round of negotiations regarding the prisoners works to build confidence in preparation for negotiations on a political solution.

He stressed that the political solution depends on liberating the decisions of the parties to the conflict and putting the interests of the Yemeni people first, in reference to the parties loyal to the coalition.

The coalition delegation negotiating the prisoner file arrived in Muscat last week, accompanied by two military officers in the coalition forces and intelligence, Major General Nasser Al-Thunayan and Brigadier General Falah Al-Shahrani.
