Tribal sheikh survives assassination attempt in Aden

ADEN, July 04 (YPA) – A tribal sheikh survived an assassination attempt during the early hours of Thursday in the city of Aden, which is under the control of the Saudi-led coalition in southern Yemen.

Tribal Sheikh Majid Mahdi Al-Aqrabi, a resident of the Al-Aqrabi tribe, was subjected to a kidnapping attempt by six gunmen believed to belong to the Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions, riding a bus in the Al-Haswa area of the Al-Buraiqa region, which failed.

Al-Aqrabi was able to escape from the gunmen’s grip after resisting them, so some young men present at the scene of the incident were able to help him while they heard gunfire following the gunmen’s attempt to assassinate Al-Aqrabi.

This comes after the STC factions, led by Nabil Al-Mashoushi, carried out a massive kidnapping campaign against members of the Al-Aqrabi tribe, following the killing of his sister’s son while storming a citizen’s home to kidnap a girl in early June.

The STC members were able to humiliate the Al-Aqrabi tribe after the arrest of Al-Aqrabi sheikh Mahdi Al-Aqrabi in the Bir Ahmed area against the backdrop of malicious cases in the sale of lands.
