ACLU files complaint against Biden

WORLD, June 13 (YPA) – The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) reported that it has filed a lawsuit against President Joe Biden’s administration due to its recent tightening of immigration policies.

It is noted that President Biden, after much hesitation, has banned the acceptance of asylum requests from undocumented immigrants who cross the southern border in large numbers. He has also ordered a drastic reduction in the processing time for applications already submitted, from six years to six months.

“We have filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over executive orders that severely limit access to asylum and endanger the lives of thousands of people,” ACLU said in a statement issued.

In addition to the ACLU, several other human rights groups are participating in the lawsuit.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, asserts that the Biden administration is violating US asylum laws and related procedural provisions.
