SOCOTRA, May 29 (YPA) – An Indian ship carrying a large shipment of Emirati cement intended for foreign military bases sank off the Yemeni coast of Socotra, east of the Gulf of Aden, on Wednesday.
Informed sources explained that the Indian ship sank during the past hours, 30 miles from Socotra province, carrying 600 tons of Emirati cement.
The sources pointed out that the UAE sent a shipment of cement designated for military bases after it seized the quantities of Socotra merchants during the past two weeks, witnessing a stifling cement crisis.
The impact of the monsoon winds on the Socotra Archipelago began yesterday, Tuesday, doubling the suffering of the people of Socotra as a result of the cessation of ship navigation and the supply of basic services and goods to the island.
