OCCUPIED PALESTINE, May 20 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces have arrested at least 26 Palestinian citizens from the West Bank, including former prisoners, since yesterday evening until Monday morning.
The Prisoners’ Club and the Prisoners’ and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Authority said in a joint statement that the arrest operations were concentrated in the governorates of Hebron, which affected 21 citizens, including prisoners who were recently released and re-arrested by the occupation, and Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
The arrest operations were accompanied by widespread raids, harassment, and severe beatings, in addition to widespread sabotage and destruction of citizens’ homes.
The statement added that the occupation forces stormed and searched the home of the family of prisoner Islam Hamed in the town of Silwad, who has been detained since 2015 and sentenced to 21 years in prison, as part of the “collective punishment” policy used by the occupation against prisoners and their families.
The statement indicated that the total number of arrests after October 7 reached about 8,800, and this total includes those who were arrested from homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.
