Yemen to witness extremely hot weather in next 24 hours

SANAA, May 17 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning has renewed its warnings for citizens in desert areas and coastal plains regarding  hot to very hot weather.

In its weather bulletin issued on Friday; the center advised residents of those areas to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the afternoon.

It also warned citizens in areas experiencing rainfall to beware of flash floods in streams and valleys and to avoid being in their paths.

The center further warned of thunderstorms and  reduced horizontal visibility on mountain roads due to rain and fog formation, as well as  to avoid crossing ground bridges during flash floods.

the center expected rain to fall on parts of the provinces of Hajjah, Al Mahwit, Raymah, Dhamar, Ibb, Taiz, Al Dhale, Lahij, and Socotra.

“Scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is expected to hit  parts of the provinces of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Marib, Bayda, Shabwa, and the highlands of Abyan, as well as on the eastern and southern coasts and the interior areas adjacent to them,” the center said.

The center noted that temperatures could be hot to very hot in the deserts and coastal plains, with maximum temperatures ranging between 38 – 42 degrees Celsius.
