GAZA, May 13 (YPA) – Gaza-based Ministry of Health warned of the collapse of the health system due to the lack of fuel in the medical sectors operating in the Strip.
“We are only a few hours taking from the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip as a result of the failure to bring in the fuel necessary to operate electricity generators in hospitals, ambulances, and transport employees,” the ministry said in a statement on Monday.
Hisham Adwan, spokesman for the Gaza crossings authority, said in news statements that “the Israeli occupation forces continue to close the Gaza Strip crossings for the seventh straight day, preventing the entry of humanitarian aid and the travel of the wounded and patients.”
In this context, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated in a post on “X” the restricted humanitarian access is a matter of life and death for the people of the Gaza Strip, who are already suffering amid ongoing bombardment and food insecurity.”
UNRWA called for “opening safe corridors for the passage of aid and humanitarian workers into Gaza.”
For the 220th day, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip continue, in light of a great scarcity of food, water, medicine, and fuel, and a number of operating hospitals and medical centers get out of service.
On Sunday, the ministry of health announced, in its latest census, that the death toll from Israeli operations in the Gaza Strip has risen to 35,034 martyrs with 78,755 injured, since October 7.
