UAE creates new secret prisons in Hadramout

HADRAMOUT, April 20 (YPA) – UAE forces have begun building new secret underground detention centers at Al-Rayyan Airport in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital of Hadramout, eastern Yemen.

Former leader of the so-called “Southern Resistance,” Adel Al-Hasani, confirmed in a post on the “X” platform on Saturday that the UAE forces had created underground prisons in the back side of the airport.

It is expected that the UAE would launch a massive campaign of arrests and kidnappings of the people of Hadramout, especially those loyal to Saudi Arabia, which has moved to control the coastal districts through the so-called “Dare al-Watan Forces.

Al-Rayyan Civil Airport in Mukalla has become one of the “notorious secret prisons run by the UAE, in which dozens of detainees and forcibly disappeared opponents of its presence in the southern governorates be tortured.

The airport, located on the Arabian Sea, has been under the control of the Emirati forces since 2016, and it was turned into an American military base, according to what the Saudi-based Al-Hadath Channel” reported in February 2023, citing its sources in the Pentagon, that Washington maintains two bases affiliated with the CIA in areas under the control of the coalition-backed Aden government, one of bases is in Hadramout.
