UNFPA describes situation in Gaza Strip as humanitarian hell

GAZA, April 20 (YPA) – United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Representative for the State of Palestine, Dominic Allen, described the situation in the Strip as a humanitarian hell after 6 months of attacks on healthcare in exhausted hospitals in Gaza.

This came during his talk to reporters at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, via video form the occupied city of al-Quds.

“What I witnessed is heartbreaking and cannot be described, and We saw medical equipment being deliberately broken and destroyed.” Allen went on to say. “Ultrasound machines, critical to helping ensure safe deliveries, had their wires cut and their screens smashed.”

According to the United Nations, the UNFPA mission’s goal was to visit about 10 hospitals, including Al-Aqsa Hospital in central Gaza, which faces burdens beyond its capacity due to the large number of trauma patients.
