Moscow accuses Washington, London of obstructing settlement efforts in Yemen

MOSCOW, March 14 (YPA) – Moscow accused Washington and London on Thursday of obstructing settlement efforts in Yemen by militarizing the Red Sea region.

Russia’s Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Dmitry Polyansky, confirmed that the American and British sides are “obstructing the settlement efforts led by the UN envoy to Yemen.”

Polyansky said, “The United States only knows battleship diplomacy,” noting that it “adds fuel to the fire alongside Britain.”

He warned of the dangers of military buildups in the Red Sea region, stressing that this “does not lead to a reduction in escalation, but rather the exact opposite.”

This comes at a time when the United States and Britain continue their attacks on Yemen, the latest of which was targeting the coastal province of Hodeida on the Red Sea, west of the country, with seven air strikes.

Regarding the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, which has entered its sixth month, Polyansky stressed that failure to stop the war on the Gaza Strip “threatens the region and the world with major consequences.”

In addition to its aggression against Yemen, the United States and its allies continue to support the Israeli occupation entity in its war on the Gaza Strip militarily and politically by sending arms shipments and using the “veto” in Security Council sessions against the ceasefire resolution.
