WORLD, March 01 (YPA) – Australia is “horrified” by the “catastrophe” in Gaza that ended in the death of more than 100 Palestinians waiting for aid, the country’s Foreign Minister Penny Wong stated.
This came in response to the massacre committed by Israeli occupation forces on Thursday, in “Rashid Street” in Gaza City, against citizens while were waiting for the arrival of aid trucks, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of hundreds.
“These events underscore why for months Australia has been calling for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza. Civilians must be protected. Humanitarian aid must reach civilians in desperate need,” She said in a statement.
Wong added that the government was providing $46.5 million in humanitarian assistance and would announce “additional urgent support… in coming days.”
She asked her department to tell the Israeli ambassador Australia is “horrified” at reports that Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinians waiting for aid in Gaza.
The massacre in “Rashid Street” resulted in the martyrdom of more than 112 citizens and the injury of 760 others.
