Civil Defense in Gaza: Food, medicine shortages threaten lives of over 700,000 Palestinians

GAZA, Feb. 24 (YPA) – The Civil Defense Directorate in the Gaza Strip warned that the Israeli occupation’s continued prevention of the entry of food and medicine to those besieged in the Gaza and northern governorates threatens the lives of more than 700,000 Palestinians.

Major Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense – Gaza Strip, said in a statement, “The Israeli occupation’s continued prevention of the entry of basic food supplies and medical treatment for besieged citizens in the Gaza and North governorates threatens the lives of more than 700,000 citizens with death every moment.”

The statement added, “The suffering of citizens in Gaza and the north is worsening daily, as thousands of them are waiting to die either due to hunger or Israeli targeting, in light of a suspicious Arab and international silence in the face of this suffering and daily killing.”

Today, Saturday, the war in Gaza entered its 141st day, as bombing continues on various axes of the Strip amid a catastrophic humanitarian situation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced in its latest toll yesterday, Friday, “The toll of death from the Israeli aggression has risen to 29,514 martyrs and 69,616 wounded since the 7th of October.”
