Gunmen attack top official in Aden

ADEN, Feb. 19 (YPA) – A senior local official was attacked on Monday by gunmen in the city of Aden, south of Yemen.

Sources familiar with matter said that the militants loyal to the UAE-affiliated Southern Transitional Council (STC) militias opend fire towards Saber Sabira, the director of the Authority’s Investment Department, in an attempt to prevent him from entering the building, in the coalition factions-held city of Aden.

The sources confirmed that the gunmen’s fire targeted Sabira’s car, damaging its tires, without knowing the reason, suggesting that the decision to prevent him from entering the building came at the direction issued by the STC.

Aden has been witnessed unprecedented security chaos due to the absence of state authorities since the beginning of 2016.
