UN accuses “Israel” of using hunger as weapon to kill Gaza civilians

GAZA, Feb. 15 (YPA) – United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to food, Michael Fakhri, accused on Thursday the Israeli entity of using hunger as a weapon to harm and kill civilians in Gaza.

In an article published by Anatolia, Fakhri stressed that the population of the Strip has now constituted a huge percentage of the world’s hungry.

He also accused the countries that stopped funding the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), based on “false” Zionist allegations, of being “complicit in the issue of starvation.”

Fakhri added: “One out of four residents in Gaza is starving. I and other independent experts in the field of human rights in the United Nations system have seen how the Zionist enemy forces are committing genocide against the Palestinian people.”

He also said that the population of Gaza “currently constitutes 80% of the total number of people facing famine or catastrophic hunger around the world,” explaining that “the world has not witnessed such a rapid and complete starvation of the civilian population since World War II.”

The UN official added that the Zionist enemy forces not only make the area uninhabitable by bombing homes and civilian infrastructure, but “at the same time they do not leave any safe place in Gaza.

He pointed out that “the only way to end this horror is an immediate ceasefire and the provision of unhindered humanitarian aid.”
