Hadramout tribes mobilize their militants in preparation for confrontation

HADRAMOUT, Jan. 30 (YPA) – Tribes of Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, mobilized on Tuesday dozens of their armed members in the city of Sayoun and some of the valley and desert districts of the province to confront potential threats in the coming hours.

Informed sources in the province said, “The tribal sheikhs participating in the sit-in camp, demanding a reduction in the price of gasoline, mobilized their gunmen in Sayoun and some cities in the province, following reports of trends to storm the camp in the Al-Khasha’a area, west of the province.”

The sources explained that the armed mobilization of the tribesmen came after reports on the governor, Mabkhout bin Madhi, loyal to the Saudi-led coalition directed the Islah party factions in the “First Military Region” to storm the tribes sit-in camp, who demand that a 20-liter can of gasoline be sold for 3,500 riyals, as it is in the city of Marib, instead of 25,000 riyals.

The protest tribes had threatened to target fuel tankers after the expiry of the deadline granted by tribal sheikhs to local authorities to reduce the price of fuel.

On Sunday, the Hadramout tribes issued a statement granting the oil company and local authorities loyal to the coalition a 48-hour deadline to adjust the prices of oil derivatives.
