Hamas calls on UNRWA to assume its responsibilities towards Palestinian refugees

GAZA, Jan. 30 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, called on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to return to work in all areas of the Gaza Strip and assume its legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards hundreds of thousands of refugees.

In a statement issued Monday, a prominent member of the movement, Osama Hamdan, denounced what was stated in the statement of the Agency’s Commissioner-General, Philippe Lazzarini, and his description of the resistance of the Palestinian people as “terrorism.”

Lazzarini had previously announced the termination of the contracts of a number of UNRWA employees in Gaza based on Zionist information that accused these employees of participating in the events of October 7.
