Tribal gunmen surround Safer oil facility in Marib

MARIB, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Tribal militants from Harib district surrounded the Safer oil facility near Marib city, controlled by the Saudi-led coalition, on Monday, demanding the handover of those accused of killing a tribe member by military personnel.

Informed sources said, “Dozens of members of the Al-Ababa tribes in Harib established a sit-in camp next to the Safer oil facility, demanding the handover of those accused in the incident of the killing of one of their sons, Ahmed Abdullah Al-Abab, by members of the pro-coalition factions at the Asaad Al-Kamel point near the facility.”

Al-Abab was killed at the point two days ago while returning from one of the coalition’s fronts without mentioning the reason, according to the sources.

The sources added that the local authorities loyal to the coalition sent tribal mediation to the sheikhs and notables of the Al-Abab tribe to contain the incident through tribal arbitration, but the tribes rejected mediation, threatening escalation if their demands were not met.
