Deterioration of public services parks angry protests in Lahj

LAHJ, Jan. 21 (YPA) – Hundreds of protesters took on Sunday to the streets of Lahj province, south of Yemen, against the economic deterioration and the catastrophic collapse of electricity service in the province.

In the protests, the angry participants blocked the main street in the cities of Al-Houta and Saber of the province, amid accusations against Saudi Arabia and the UAE of aggravating the situation against citizens.

The protesters set fire to damaged tires and blocked traffic, chanting slogans demanding the expulsion of the pro-coalition authorities.

They accused Saudi Arabia and the UAE of plunging southern Yemen into crises by being behind the lack of electricity fuel.

The coalition-affiliated Aden government has reached complete paralysis and inability to provide fuel to power stations in Aden and release oil tankers seized by the Khabar al-Maraqsha tribes in Abyan, who are demanding to cut the price of derivatives, similar to the Islah Party-held city of Marib.
