Russian representative to UN: America and its allies expanded the conflict after aggression on Yemen
WORLD, Jan.13 (YPA) – Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said on Friday that America and its allies expanded the conflict to include the entire region after the attacks on Yemen.
This came during his speech at the Security Council session, held on Friday evening.
Vasily Nebenzia: “America and its allies expanded the scope of the conflict to include the entire region after the attacks on Yemen.”
He added, “We called for an end to the war in Gaza, so that the scope of the conflict would not expand, but Washington obstructed all attempts by the Security Council.”
He stressed that the confrontation is expanding in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and the coalition countries threaten to expand the confrontation further.
Vasily Nebenzia confirmed that the massive strikes of the United States and the United Kingdom against the territory of Yemen have nothing to do with the right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter.
“The right to self-defense cannot be invoked to ensure freedom of navigation, and our American colleagues are well aware of this,” he added.
He pointed out that defending commercial ships and bombing other countries is a different matter and an illegal act.
