Total number of detainees in West Bank reaches 4,400 people: Palestinian Prisoner Club

WEST BANK, Dec. 14 (YPA) – The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club announced on Thursday that the Israeli occupation forces arrested 17 Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank from Wednesday evening until this morning, bringing the total number of detainees since October 7 to 4,400.

The Prisoners’ Club indicated in a statement that among the detainees were a girl from Hebron and former prisoners, and the arrests were concentrated in the town of Beit Ummar in the city of Hebron, while the rest of the arrests were distributed among the governorates of Tubas, Bethlehem, Al-Quds, Nablus, and Ramallah.

The Israeli occupation authorities continue to carry out widespread arrest campaigns in the West Bank, specifically in the Jenin Governorate and its camp, which is subjected to comprehensive aggression, the statement added.

The statement stated that since the start of the military operation on the morning of December 12 until today, the Israeli occupation forces have arrested hundreds of citizens, the majority of whom were released after being subjected to field investigation and harassment operations in the “Salem” camp.

In light of the continuation of the Israeli military operation in Jenin and the arrest campaigns associated with it, it was not possible to confirm the exact number of detainees in the Jenin governorate and its camp, the Prisoners’ Club explained, noting that this arrest campaign is the highest since the years of the Al-Aqsa Intifada.
