WORLD, Dec. 05 (YPA) – Police in Virginia, a Washington suburb, opened an investigation into an explosion Monday night at a house where officers were trying to file a search warrant.
A huge bang was heard in the area shortly after 8:20 p.m., power was cut off nearby and flames were seen rising from a nearby street in Arlington, which is separated from Washington, D.C. by the Potomac River.
The Arlington County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement that the explosion occurred when a suspect fired several shots inside the home. Firefighters began working to put out the blaze.
Police had earlier said they were investigating after someone fired a flare-up from the house.
