UAE-backed forces control over important strategic sites in Aden city

ADEN, Nov. 27 (YPA) – The UAE-backed Tariq Afash factions imposed their military control on the most important strategic sites located on the outskirts of the city of Aden, which is under the control of the “Southern Transitional Council (STC).

Adel Al-Madrawi, a media activist, posted on his account on “X” platform, a statement by the factions of the “Ninth Brigade” affiliated with the STC, confirming that the forces of “Tariq Afash” led by the so-called Fahman Al-Ghabs, imposed their control on Qawah Junction, which is located within the Buraiqa area of the city of Aden, in agreement with Hamdi Shukri Al-Subaihi, the leader of the extremist Salafist, al-Amaliqa factions that spread on the western coast overlooking Bab al-Mandab, based on a meeting with “Tariq” and his brother “Ammar” in the military camp Khaled in Mocha city of Taiz.

The statement explained that the Tariq Afash’s reinforcements that sent by the Salafist leader Hamdi Shukri had refused to withdraw after the intervention of Major General Mahmoud Al-Subaihi, the former Minister of Defense, who arrived in the region to reduce tensions between the factions, indicating that the Afash forces imposed their control on Mafraq under the pretext of combating smuggling, amid accusations of facilitating the smuggling of hashish, drugs and alcohol in exchange for big sums.

The expansion of the phenomenon of smuggling hashish, drugs and alcohol on the western coast of Lahj province, which is under the control of the UAE factions, has constituted a source of enormous revenues generating billions of riyals for the leaders of the factions loyal to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
